Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers’ running back situation hasn’t quite been able to fill the hole LeVeon Bell left them with a couple years ago. Gurley might be able to help them out.
After James Conner’s breakout year in 2018, he regressed last season, missing six games with injuries and being limited in a handful of others. It was called “disappointing” by Steelers’ GM Kevin Colbert. This is Conner’s final year of his rookie contract and if he doesn’t prove that 2018 was the rule, not the exception, there’s a good chance the Steelers won’t rush to resign him.
Outside of Conner, Jaylen Samuels and Benny Snell round the rest of the running back corps. Samuels is more of a passing back, while Snell enjoyed decent success in the limited role he had last season.
If Pittsburgh lets Conner walk next season, they certainly will want to bring in someone else, like Todd Gurley, to fill that role.
