5. Pittsburgh Steelers
The post-Le’Veon Bell era for the Steelers has been a roller coaster. James Conner burst onto the scene in 2018, but suffered injuries last season. The running game struggled once Conner went down, which was to be expected.
In 2020, the rushing attack for the Steelers is very much in question. There were talks of the team being interested in making a trade for Leonard Fournette or finding a running back in the draft. Aaron Jones might fall into the Steelers’ time frame perfectly.
Conner showed in 2018 that he deserves one more chance. The team cannot just give up after one injury-plagued season. If he does not perform well, Jones is available. Even if he does, Jones can still be signed given that Conner has an injury history. This would take pressure off each other and give the Steelers great versatility and depth.
It will all come down to 2020 to see what Pittsburgh’s next move is at the running back position.
