5. Dallas Cowboys
Dallas is currently involved in a standoff with quarterback Dak Prescott. The fifth-year veteran must play under the franchise tag in 2020, and he can’t sign a long-term deal until next offseason. However, the Cowboys should invest some money in their defensive end position as well.
Robert Quinn led the Cowboys in sacks last season with 11.5. His 22 quarterback hits and 13 tackles for loss also set the standard. DeMarcus Lawrence finished second in sacks and quarterback hits with five and 16. With Quinn heading to Chicago and Lawrence coming off his worst season since 2016, the Cowboys need some help at defensive end.
According to Spotrac, Dallas has enough projected cap space in 2021 to play a role in free agency. The Cowboys possess around $25.2 million in projected cap space, which puts them in play for Bosa. However, Dallas might pass on signing an impact defensive end considering the contract situation at quarterback.
Whenever Dallas gets a chance, the team must address its defensive end spot across from Lawrence. There’s little to no depth there. Even Michael Bennett, who finished third on the team last year with four sacks and 11 quarterback hits, left in free agency.
