2. Indianapolis Colts
While the Colts feature one of the weakest secondaries in the NFL, the team also possesses a strong defensive front. The defensive line features two former All-Pros in DeForest Buckner and Justin Houston. However, Houston’s deal ends after the 2020 season, and Indianapolis needs a new top pass rusher. Signing Bosa in free agency could provide the team with an elite upgrade.
The Colts purposely limited Houston’s snaps last season, keeping the four-time Pro Bowler from suffering a significant injury. Indy’s scheme worked, and Houston started all 16 games. He played 65% of the defensive snaps but posted his highest sack total since 2014.
During his limited playing time, Houston tallied 11 sacks, 18 quarterback hits, and 44 tackles. Indianapolis added Buckner to the defensive line this offseason, which should only magnify Houston’s production in 2020.
Buckner earned a Second-Team All-Pro selection this past season. Over the past two years, he hasn’t missed a game and tallied 19.5 sacks, 34 quarterback hits, and 129 tackles. The Colts signed him to a four-year extension this offseason, meaning he and Bosa could play together for at least four years if Indianapolis signs the defensive end next year.
Indianapolis possesses more than enough money to make some big plays in free agency. According to Spotrac, the Colts have the most projected cap space in 2021. With around $95.4 million in room, Indianapolis can sign several Pro Bowl-caliber players.
