Joe Mixon
The Cincinnati Bengals have a very bright future. They have very good depth at wide receiver. Their offensive line should improve with last season’s first-round pick, left tackle Jonah Williams returning from injury. The Bengals went on to draft quarterback Joe Borrow first overall. Their offense is trending in the right direction. It would make no sense to let a talented back like Joe Mixon walk away in free agency.
Mixon was one of the lone bright spots to a very poor Bengals offense last year. While he wasn’t able to carry the team in the win column, Mixon was able to provide a spark for this offense that had many issues. The Bengals have plenty of cap space to work with. Resigning Mixon should be the team’s top priority next offseason.
Although Mixon barely passed four-yards per carry last season, you have to understand that he was one of the only threats that opposing defenses had to worry about. The Bengals receiving core was injured. Andy Dalton struggled. Defenses would stack the box against Cincinnati and Mixon would have no room to operate. However AJ Green, John Ross, and Auden Tate are all returning from injury.
Tee Higgins was selected in the second round. Tyler Boyd is coming off another season racking over 1,000 yards receiving. The Bengals passing attack must be respected. This will open things up for Mixon who could be a focal point in this offense for years to come.
