Dalvin Cook
Although Cook has been a focal point of the Vikings attack, there is a chance the two parties part ways. There were rumors of Cook holding out until he received a new contract. While Cook did show up to training camp, he has yet to receive that contract.
Could that be because Minnesota is not going to give him one? The pair of Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone was very good in Cook’s absence. Minnesota may be looking to bring in another superstar like Cook’s former FSU teammate Jalen Ramsey next offseason. Cook would serve as the sacrificial lamb in this scenario.
Although Minnesota may be moving on from Cook, he is still one of the leagues best backs. He will gain interest from any team looking for a running back. Jacksonville makes sense as a potential landing spot. Although the Jaguars offensive line is one of the leagues worst, Minnesota was not spectacular. Cook has proven he can overcome subpar line play in both his college and professional career. Jacksonville also has a ton of cap space to play with and could make Cook a massive deal.
Under Jay Gruden the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be moving towards a zone run scheme. This is another reason why I believe they will move on from Fournette. Dalvin Cook thrives in the zone run. He has incredible burst, vision, balance, and speed. The Jaguars have enough cap space and draft capital they could rebuild their offensive line.
Many are predicting that the Jaguars struggle next year. They could take the best lineman available or draft Trevor Lawrence and trade promising prospect, Gardner Minshew, for future picks. Whatever the case may be, Cook could be a building block for this young Jaguars offense.
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars
