Baltimore Ravens
The leap Lamar Jackson took in his development in 2019 was nothing short of spectacular. In just his first full season in the NFL as a starting quarterback, he managed to lead the Baltimore Ravens to the top record in the AFC and ultimately win the MVP Award. The main drawback was just shortcoming as a team in the post-season.
The production Jackson posted last season was quite remarkable for the Ravens. In 15 performances, he completed 66.1% of his 401 pass attempts for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns (league-most), and six interceptions. His presence was key in Baltimore posting an elite offense.
In the ground game, Jackson added 176 carries, 1,206 yards, and seven touchdowns. He ended up being one of the most productive players in the rushing department in the NFL, helping the Ravens field elite results in the ground game.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Marquise Brown or Miles Boykin show real progress in their development as second-year players. Jackson has plenty to work with when factoring in veteran pass-catching options like Mark Andrews and Willie Snead IV to provide balance and Mark Ingram II and J.K. Dobbins in the backfield.
The ESPN projection for Jackson in 2020 features him going 297-of-466 (63.7%) on throws for 3,429 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. In terms of rushing, they expect him to total 156 carries, 902 rushing yards, and six rushing touchdowns.
Expect to see Jackson air it out more for the Ravens in 2020 and rely noticeably less on the ground game. Regardless, it seems inevitable there will be a decline in his volume for passing touchdowns and rushing production, but his passing yards should experience an increase.
