Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ acquisition of Tom Brady also brought Rob Gronkowski in the process. Bringing in another tight end raises some questions when considering O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate are already well in the fold.
There is an expectation that each of the Buccaneers’ three tight ends will receive regular involvement in the team’s offense in 2020. The main question is just regarding how much each player will be able to earn.
The accomplishments Gronkowski has achieved during his NFL career are nothing short of incredible. However, the Buccaneers need to do what it takes to maximize their results this season and he will need to show that he’s in form enough to make a considerable impact.
If Gronkowski is unable to play at a level at least relatively emblematic of his former self, the Buccaneers very well could give more opportunity to Howard and Brate for balance. It may be a fluid situation, but for now, they will each compete for snaps in Week 1.
