1. Washington Selects Chase Young in NFL Draft
One of the most difficult types of players to add in the NFL is a dynamic pass rusher. Washington managed to do precisely that by using the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to take former Ohio State standout Chase Young.
The level of impact Young provided the Buckeyes during his final NCAA season was truly sensational. In 12 appearances, he managed to record 46 combined tackles (21.0 for loss), 16.5 sacks, and seven forced fumbles. He is one of the more dominant edge prospects in recent memory.
By adding Young into their already formidable front-seven, Washington now has one of the best in the league. The group already had Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis, Ryan Kerrigan, Deron Payne, and Montez Sweat on the defensive line but needed the potentially elite talent Young provides.
It’s likely that Washington will struggle to win games during the 2020 season. The stage they are currently in as a franchise doesn’t make the win count for the upcoming season pressing. Rather it’s about long-term achievement and Chase Young will play a pivotal role in that.
