2. Cowboys Select CeeDee Lamb in NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys made a splash in the 2020 NFL Draft by using the No. 17 pick to select former Oklahoma standout CeeDee Lamb. It wasn’t an expected decision as much of the talk was about the team targeting an edge rusher or cornerback. They went the best player available approach instead.

Lamb put together a phenomenal final season with the Sooners in 2019. He produced totals of 62 catches, 1,327 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. Perhaps most impressive of all was his average of 21.4 yards per reception, putting his big-play ability on full display.

Now with Lamb in the receiving corps, the Cowboys have what projects as being the top wide receiver trio in the NFL. Perhaps most intriguing of all is that Lamb is capable of playing both out on the boundary and in the slot. After losing Randall Cobb in free agency, that versatility will be needed.

Not only will CeeDee Lamb help the Cowboys with fielding an explosive offensive attack in 2020, but the long-term benefit is also significant. Being on a rookie contract for plenty of years will help Dallas to sustain their roster construction in the near future.
