Tight Ends
The tight end position is a big question mark for the Packers but there is potential. Graham signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Chicago Bears in free agency. Jace Sternberger is expected to take a big step this season.
The third round pick in 2019 missed the first eight games in 2019 due to an ankle injury. He played six games but did not record a catch. Sternberger logged his first reception in the divisional round and first touchdown in the NFC championship Game. He has recently been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. When the season begins, Sternberger will be needed to take on an extended role as TE1.
Marcedes Lewis will back up Sternberger in 2020. This is a nice option for the Packers given his experience and leadership. Lewis is a veteran tight end that can provide guidance for Sternberger in his first full season. Lewis is a durable tight end that is a excellent run blocker. The Packers added Josiah Deguara in the third round of the draft. He brings great versatility which will allow him to line up in multiple positions.
The tight end position in Green Bay has a chance to turn into something special but it is rather unknown where we stand today. It is a nice mix of young players with the experience of Lewis. This is a group to keep an eye on throughout the season.
