Defense Will Show Improvement
It has been a struggle for the Raiders to stop teams from racking up points in recent years. Last season, they allowed an average of 354.8 total yards per game (16th) along with 26.2 points per game (T-24th). Will they turn things around during their inaugural season in Las Vegas?
Using free agency, the Raiders signed veteran contributors including Cory Littleton, Damarious Randall, Maliek Collins, Nick Kwiatkowski, and Carl Nassib among others. This should help Las Vegas to at least show noticeable improvement from the team’s 2019 production.
The 2020 NFL Draft was used to focus on improving the defense after the Henry Ruggs III pick. They added Clelin Ferrell, Damon Arnette, Jonathan Abram, and Trayvon Mullen into the mix. There is reason to question whether they can make a big impact in 2020 though.
The changes the Raiders made in the offseason certainly will not boost the Raiders into top 10 status. While that may be the case, what’s most important is that progress is achieved and they keeping teams out of the end-zone more often to give the offense more of a chance to win games.
