Derek Carr Won’t Silence Critics
It seems Derek Carr’s name was been mentioned in trade rumors quite often earlier in the offseason. While it’s unclear how substantiated those may have been, it’s crucial he manages to have a strong 2020 season to ensure his role with the Raiders long-term.
The expectations from others do not appear high for Carr. ESPN recently released their league-wide projections for all of the NFL’s offensive players, which featured totals of just 3,410 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions for Carr.
There is no shortage of talent in the Raiders’ offense alongside Carr. He now has Henry Ruggs III at receiver alongside Hunter Renfrow, Tyrell Williams, and Nelson Algholor. Additionally, Las Vegas has Josh Jacobs in the backfield and Darren Waller at tight end.
Unless Carr manages to raise his game a couple of levels, the conversations about him being the quarterback of the future will not stop. The Raiders could end up pondering how effective they’d be in 2021 if they made a change at this position.
