Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Ever since entering the NFL, it seems Matthew Stafford has been overlooked by many as the result of the Detroit Lions failing to surround him with sufficient talent. It’s been going on for the last decade and has resulted in many overlooking his impact as a player.
The Lions were without Stafford for the second half of the 2019 season as the result of an injury. He racked up 2,499 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions, which made him one of the league’s most productive quarterbacks in each major passing category before the injury.
There appears to be a solid receiving corps around Stafford with Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones setting the tone. They would have benefited from adding some more dynamic talent to help take their offense to the next level, but Stafford at least a solid amount of talent around him.
The running game for the Lions was very underwhelming last season but there is hope 2nd round pick D’Andre Swift can make an immediate impact. If that ends up being the case, it could provide Matthew Stafford with enough help to lead Detroit to more wins in 2020.
