Lamar Jackson Won’t Rush For 1,000 Yards
As the premier dual-threat quarterback in the league, Lamar Jackson led the Ravens in rushing yards last season with 1,206 yards. But in his third season at the helm, he’s going focus more on the passing game than the running game.
Jackson, for as good and as elusive as he is, is one missed juke away from a serious knee injury (i.e. Robert Griffin III). Ig he wants to continue to dominate in the league, he’s going to have to tone down his rushing game a bit.
Now he still is going to rack up a large amount of rushing yards, but he won’t hit the 1,000 yards rushing threshold this year. With Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards back in the backfield, in addition to drafting J.K. Dobbins, there are plenty of options to hand the ball off instead of keeping it and rushing.
To be honest, if Jackson focuses more on his passing, he becomes a lot more dangerous because defenses have to respect both his arms and his legs. You could tell at times, like the Titans divisional round game, once the defense figures Jackson out, he has to adapt and adapt quickly, otherwise the offense gets nowhere. He still will lead all QBs in rushing, and by a large margin, but it won’t be for as much as last season.
