Jonathan Taylor is Versatile
When watching the impact Jonathan Taylor provided Wisconsin, it doesn’t take long to notice a rare blend of size and speed. While he isn’t spectacular at any one spect, he is very good at everything. He isn’t a true bruising back like Derrick Henry and doesn’t have the elusiveness of Christian McCaffrey.
While many look at Taylor’s lack of experience as a receiver, he showed plenty of flashes when given an opportunity. He emerged as a very valuable receiver for Wisconsin last season, racking up five receiving touchdowns. He isn’t going to catch 90 passes out of the backfield but is capable of making an impact.
The possibilities are quite intriguing for the Colts in 2020 when considering Taylor is truly a do-it-all back. He has shown the ability to run between the tackles and has the speed to bounce runs outside. With great speed and size, he is the prototypical modern NFL back.
There is a resemblance to some of what Nick Chubb has been for the Cleveland Browns in terms of playstyle. Taylor can deliver a blow, run through arm tackles, use speed to get to the corner, or juke out opposing defenders.
Taylor is a perfect chess piece for an offense looking to build off their run game, which brings me to my next point…
