Takkarist McKinley

Takkarist McKinley was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of 2017 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for McKinley, his fifth-year option was declined by Atlanta–requiring a strong season to prove his case to other teams ahead of free agency in 2021.

Even with limited playing time, McKinley tallied 13 sacks and 25 quarterback hits in just 31 games played. He displayed a genuine impact using the opportunities he’s received.

In 2019, McKinley was a product of his environment and struggled like the rest of the Falcons’ defense. He had only 3.5 sacks and 29 tackles.

As Takkarist enters a contract year, the chip on his shoulder will grow exponentially. Defensive ends are still widely available, so McKinley will have to dominates this season to secure a bag next season.
