4. The Panthers Pass On A QB In The Draft For Isaiah Simmons

Let’s preface this by saying that there is a chance Isaiah Simmons could be gone when the Panthers come on the clock with the No. 7 overall pick. However, quite a few mock drafts have him being available with that selection.

Simmons is the kind of defensive playmaker that could soften the blow of Kuechly’s retirement. He can play multiple positions, having the ability to play linebacker or safety. That kind of athleticism would go a long way towards re-tooling the Carolina defense.

Carolina could decide to take a guy like Justin Herbert with this pick, but they won’t do that. Instead, the Panthers will focus on the defensive side of the football.
