Aldon Smith

Perhaps the biggest bright spot for the Cowboys was the performance of Aldon Smith, the edge rusher who hadn’t played a game in the NFL since 2015.

Smith led the Cowboys with 11 tackles against the Rams and had the only sack for Dallas. It’s a scary sight for opposing teams that Smith wasted zero time getting back into NFL shape.

The Falcons’ offensive line was well, not great in 2019. The O-line posted the worst pass-blocking (67.2) and run-blocking (58.2) grades of the Matt Ryan era, according to PFF. They only allowed two sacks last week, but it was against a weaker Seattle pass rush.

Bottom line – if Week 1 was any glimpse at what Aldon Smith can do, the Cowboys should be very excited for him to matchup against a weaker Falcons’ offensive line on Sunday.
