Cincinnati Bengals: 5 Bold Predictions for the 2018 NFL Season

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Tyler Eifert will return back to 2015 form in 2018

2015 was a fantastic season for Tyler Eifert. In 13 games, the former Irish standout grabbed 52 receptions for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading the league in that category for tight ends. Ever since this Pro Bowl season, Eifert hasn’t been the same since.

Since 2016, the fifth-year veteran missed up to 22 games with lingering back injuries and last season he only suited up for two games before being placed on injured reserve. In his career, Eifert has missed a total of 41 contests.

During this offseason, the Bengals decided to bring back the injury-plagued star on a one-year deal. Even with his concerning injury history, the 27-year-old is still a reliable go-to target for quarterback Andy Dalton. Since losing star wide receivers Marvin Jones (DET) and Mohamed Sanu (ATL) to free agency, the Bengals struggled to find someone who can replace the production of both and Dalton’s only option in the receiving corp was All-Pro wide receiver AJ Green.

With the team still waiting for Tyler Boyd and John Ross to emerge out of the scene, Eifert is one the few players that has an established connection with the Pro Bowl QB. When healthy Eifert is a top ten player in his position which Cincinnati has missed in the last two seasons.

With a seemingly young faced offense heading into 2018, watch Eifert become one of the bright spots returning to his Pro Bowl self.
