Cincinnati Bengals: 5 Bold Predictions for the 2018 NFL Season

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati will make the playoffs, win their first playoff game in 27 seasons

This has been a rough decade for Cincinnati Bengals. From 2011 to 2015, the Bengals have clinched the postseason for five straight seasons and fell victim to many heartbreaking first-round exits. Marvin Lewis still has yet to win a playoff game in his 16th season as a coach in the league.

Even with two straight disappointing seasons, Cincinnati still has a roster filled with loads of talent that can compete in the AFC. The team bolstered their offensive line by trading for Bills tackle Cordy Glenn and drafted center Billy Price in the first round and guard Rod Taylor in the seventh round.

They also fixed their defensive side by taking chances on Ohio State’s Sam Hubbard and Wake Forest’s Jessie Bates III in the second and third rounds and drafted Malik Jefferson, Davontae Harris, Andrew Brown, and Darius Phillips in the later rounds. Even though some may consider it a steal, Cincinnati took a chance on Miami bruiser Mark Walton, who has his share of injuries. Walton is another weapon in a revamped Bengals’ offense.

The Bengals have a good opportunity to shock the NFL world with a playoff appearance and win in 2018 and in a weak AFC conference, anything is possible.
