Jaire Alexander and the Packers’ Improved Secondary
Heading into the offseason in his first year as the Packers’ general manager, Brian Gutekunst knew that the secondary was a major need. He went to work improving it in the 2018 NFL Draft. Not only did he draft Jaire Alexander in the first round, he doubled down and was able to steal Josh Jackson in the second.
Couple that with the signing of veteran cornerbacks Tramon Williams and Bashaud Breeland and the Packers are very confident with their secondary.
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was traded ahead of the trade deadline, which allowed Williams to move to safety. That switch opened up playing time for Breeland, who came through with his first interception of the season against the Dolphins. Josh Jones has also gotten some playing time, which was a major need for the Packers.
Green Bay has an extremely talented secondary, which gives them hope for the remainder of the season. They have developed well, especially Alexander, and are a formidable opponent for any offense they face.
