2. Trevor Lawrence Wins Heisman
In 2018, true freshman Trevor Lawrence led Clemson to a perfect 15-0 mark that ended with a 44-16 win over Alabama in the National Championship. Entering his sophomore season, Lawrence was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy but a slow start derailed that dream. Now as a junior, his final collegiate season, Lawrence will have one more shot.
Lawrence is already expected to go No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is a 6-6, 220 pound strike thrower that can lead an offense in big moments. With another year of experience under his belt, this could be the season that Lawrence stamps his name in the history books with the Clemson football program once and for all.
Even after a slow start in 2019, Lawrence threw for 3,665 yards with 36 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He led the offense on the biggest drive of the season in the College Football Playoff semi-final against Ohio State. Lawrence is a proven winner. He has an NFL build and the mental toughness to go with it.
The Heisman has been won by a quarterback in 10 of the last 11 years. Derrick Henry was the last non-quarterback winner in 2015. The odds are in Lawrence’s favor and he will enter the season as one of the favorites.
