NFL: 5 teams in the AFC best positioned for a bounce back season in 2020

Denver Broncos

A team that experts seem to agree on being set on taking a step forward is the Denver Broncos. In fact, some have even expressed a belief that Drew Lock could make a leap to stardom. Whether all of that happens to the fullest extent or not, the minimal expectation should be noticeable progress.

There wasn’t a whole lot for Lock to work with in the Broncos’ offense outside of Courtland Sutton. That’s not the case whatsoever after a busy offseason that featured selections of Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler in the 2020 NFL Draft along with the addition of Melvin Gordon.

As for the defense, the entire group should benefit from having a full season of experience in Vic Gangio’s system. There was shuffling around of personnel in the secondary that won’t be necessary in 2020. Additionally, getting Bradley Chubb healthy should go a long way.

There is a chance the Broncos don’t end up taking the next step during the 2020 season though. They still have plenty of inexperience on offense and not having a traditional offseason and as a result, it could be especially troubling for a team like Denver.
