Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears
The plan for the Chicago Bears is to start the 2020 season with Mitchell Trubisky in the starting quarterback role. It’s far from a guarantee that he ends up finishing the year atop the depth chart at his position.
As seen with Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans last season, it doesn’t matter if a player was a former No. 2 overall pick at some point. Results are needed and Trubisky simply has yet to deliver enough to warrant having job security.
In 2019, Trubisky struggled to produce much for dynamic results. He completed 63.2 percent of his 516 pass attempts for 3,128 passing yards, 17 touchdown throws, and 10 interceptions. That’s simply not going to cut it for a starting quarterback.
With Nick Foles now in the mix, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bears to turn to him at some point this season. Something to remember, he does already have a connection with head coach Matt Nagy during their time together with the Philadelphia Eagles.
