New Orleans Saints

It seems strange to mention the New Orleans Saints and potential salary cap implications in the same sentence. They routinely put on a masterclass of creativity when it comes to evading the possible ramifications of cap spending. A decline in the cap would require Mickey Loomis’ best work yet.

Already getting Taysom Hill signed to a new deal and moving on from Larry Warford mitigated the need for a deal there. Those are both moves that will help New Orleans with placing greater focus on other positions to help overcome the obstacle of having to do more with less.

There are a few Saints players that will need a contract extension at some point in the relative near future starting with Alvin Kamara and Demario Davis. Other talents like Jared Cook, Marcus Williams, Sheldon Rankins, and Alex Anzalone to name a few.

There is always the option of restructuring deals to key players by turning base salary into a signing bonus. For now, they are facing a restrictive salary cap landscape in 2021 before any potential salary cap decline. For now, sit tight and wait patiently for the Loomis show.
