Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to rally down the stretch last season to ultimately beat out the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East division-title. They appear set to have a solid season in 2020, but could face a troubling financial situation next offseason.

There is no team in the NFL that has more contracts that average over $10 million annually than the Eagles. They are set to have that figure increase even more in 2021 with 12 players in position to meet his mark. There is potential to restructure some deals to clear space, though.

It’s difficult for Philadelphia to make too many additional financial commitments since players like Jalen Mills, Nate Gerry, Will Parks, and Sidney Jones need to earn an extension. It would be unwise to commit to spending beyond 2020 before seeing the necessary results.

The Eagles’ offense already had underachieving impact from the wide receiver position and Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and Marquise Goodwin are positioned to be potentially moved on from next offseason. They will likely need to move on from those receivers regardless of any restructuring of deals.
