NFL: 8 teams who could be most impacted by a salary cap decline

Las Vegas Raiders

Making the move from Oakland to Las Vegas was an intriguing choice by the Raiders that should pay off in a major way. It just may take some time for Raider Nation to be able to pack Allegiant Stadium considering the potential capacity limitations for this upcoming NFL season.

Something to take into consideration, the Raiders are facing a restrictive salary cap situation despite trading away Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper in recent years. That does not bode well for Las Vegas’ ability to field a contender in the near future, especially if the salary cap declines.

A lot will depend on Derek Carr’s performance because they have the pieces to contend but need high-level quarterback play. The core members of the team are not in danger of being a cap casualty but they will be restricted when it comes to adding sufficient talent.

The AFC West is worth monitoring for the Raiders as both the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers are positioned well positioned to withstand a decline in the cap. With the Kansas City Chiefs running the table, it will be quite difficult for Las Vegas.
