NFL Free Agency 2021: 5 way-too-early landing spots for Leonard Fournette

Derrick Henry, Titans, NFL

5. Tennessee Titans

Walk with me down the path of Fournette to the Titans. They are apparently trying to get a long-term deal done with Derrick Henry. But there is a solid case for letting him play this season on the franchise tag, and revisiting things later.

Henry’s workload last year (386 carries, including the playoffs) is a cause for concern. He is the centerpiece of a run-oriented Tennessee, with little asked of him in the passing game. So they could run him into the figurative ground again this year, then move on to fresher legs in 2021. It feels unlikely, but it is possible as things sit in mid-June.

Fournette is plenty familiar to the brass in Tennessee, and they’d get two more looks at him this year if he stays with the Jaguars. A new workhorse?
