NFL Free Agency 2021: Predicting where each notable QB will sign

Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III

The competition for Mitchell Trubisky may come in the form of former rookie of the year Robert Griffin III. Although currently, he is one of the biggest what-if’s in NFL history, Griffin is only 30-years-old. He still has some talent.

Sitting behind Brees for a season, learning the Saints’ offense, then fighting an uphill battle for starter may actually be Griffen’s best bet for redemption. Although Trubisky would have the advantage due to age, Griffin may try to sneak in and secure that starting spot for himself.

While we likely will never see what RGiii could have been, Griffin still believes in himself. Confidence is something that really never went away. He is a very good leader and is a very respected veteran in the Ravens’ locker room. At only 30-years-old, Griffin still feels like he can be an NFL caliber starter. When speaking with ESPN’s Matt Mosley, Griffin stated,

I want to be a starter again. I’m 30 years old, and quarterbacks are playing into their 40s now. There’s a lot of time left to still go achieve all the dreams and goals I set for myself.

The battle will be difficult. Griffin will be facing questions about his durability. He will likely face some heat about his struggles in Cleveland and his one game last season where he started. However, the best way to answer those questions would be through solid play. If Griffin wants to start again he will have to be head-and-shoulder better than his competition.

Prediction: New Orleans Saints
