Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts
The 2018 season featured Patrick Mahomes taking the NFL by storm en route to being the runaway winner of the MVP. One player who was considered as being the next most deserving candidate for the honor by some was Philip Rivers.
Rivers failed to build off his success and had a poor 2019 campaign. He completed 66.0 percent of his 591 pass attempts for 4,615 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. His lack of execution prompted the Chargers to consider benching him at multiple points in favor of Tyrod Taylor.
A key issue for Rivers during his final season with the Chargers was the team’s poor offensive line play. That led to clear struggles for the veteran quarterback, but won’t be an issue in 2020 considering he will have the benefit of playing behind an elite offensive line.
The supporting cast Rivers will have with the Colts goes beyond just a standout offensive line unit. He will have Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor in the backfield to help set the tone. Additionally, he will be able to throw to T.Y. Hilton, Jack Doyle, Michael Pittman Jr., and Parris Campbell.
