NFL: 7 potential surprising cuts prior to the 2020 season

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Gabe Jackson

In the time leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft, it was reported that the Las Vegas Raiders were open to taking trade offers on veteran Gabe Jackson. Despite not receiving a single Pro Bowl bid or All-Pro honor, Jackson has been a solid interior offensive lineman for the Raiders in the last six seasons.

Before the 2019 season, Jackson would suffer a knee injury that would sideline him until Week 7. While Jackson was on the mend, veteran Jordan Devey did an impressive job filling in for him. Also, it’s important to note that Las Vegas added John Simpson out of Clemson in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Even though the Raiders failed to find a trade partner for Jackson, it was likely due to him carrying a $9.6 million cap hit in 2020. But with a few viable replacements already on the roster, Jackson is an expendable piece for the Raiders.
